To summon Malown, players will need to find and click on a Discarded Letter. This object is small and usually hidden near boxes; there are multiple spawn locations within the dungeon. After interacting with the letter, click on the mailbox located in the area just before Stage 10, and Malown will appear shortly after.
Note that due to the nature of the PTR, the following may not be final and could change prior to release.
Tiny Take-Over Of Stratholme
Word around town is that something sinister is happening in a certain ruined city in northern Eastern Plaguelands. Who or what could overtake an already diseased and Undead-overrun place like Stratholme? Let's send in our battle pets to find out!
In Patch 8.2, level 120 Horde can speak with Radek Fuselock (nearby Happy Holaua) in Dazar'alor, and level 120 Alliance can talk to Tizzy Gearjolt (outside Dana Pull's store) in Boralus to pick up the breadcrumb quest, 'Restless Dead', which leads to Argent Crusade member Sean Wilkers, just outside of backdoor Stratholme.
In addition to being a quest NPC, he is also the Stratholme Pet Dungeon vendor. Unlike previous Pet Dungeons that offered only 3 pets to purchase, Sean Wilkers sells a total of 4 new pets, plus an Unopened Stratholme Supply Crate.
Each pet will require Cleansed Remains, is Bind On Pick Up, and cannot be caged. Players will need a total of 9 Cleansed Remains to buy one of each pet.
- Unopened Stratholme Supply Crate - costs 1 Cleansed Remains
- Ziggy - 1 Cleansed Remains
- Crypt Fiend - 2 Cleansed Remains
- Gruesome Belcher - 3 Cleansed Remains
- Shrieker - 3 Cleansed Remains
After completing 'Restless Dead', the next quest is 'Tiny Terrors of Stratholme'. Completing it will reward an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone, and the ability to teleport using Manapoof directly to backdoor Stratholme.
The challenge version of this Pet Dungeon is also unlocked upon turning in 'Tiny Terrors of Stratholme'. Pick up and complete the account-wide weekly quest, 'Pet Battle Challenge: Stratholme', to earn Cleansed Remains.
Same as previous Pet Dungeons, completing the Challenge version of the scenario will award an achievement of the same name and players will earn a new pet. The pet reward this time is Minimancer (pictured left)!
Inside Stratholme Pet Dungeon
The Stratholme Pet Dungeon has a total of 11 stages. Enemy pet teams are a mix of Undead, Magic, Dragonkin, and Beast families, plus a few battles have an additional twist to them!
There are 11 pet encounters — all enemy pets are level 25. Here's a quick breakdown of each stage.
- Stage 1 - Belchling (Rare Magic pet with 2 rare adds)
- Stage 2 - Sludge Belcher (Epic Undead Elite)
- Stage 3 - Wandering Phantasm & Crypt Fiend (both Rare Undead with 2 adds each)
- Stage 4 - Liz the Tormentor (Epic Magic Elite) (pictured right)
- Stage 5 - Walk through completely normal and not-at-all-suspicious gates
- Stage 6 - Defeat plagued critters in a seemingly endless pet battle (Poor Undead with...many adds!)
- Stage 7 - Risen Guard (Rare Undead with 2 rare adds)
- Stage 8 - Nefarious Terry (Epic Undead Elite with Dark Magic passive)
- Stage 9 - Clear the courtyard using Cleansed Sludge Belcher (we have to climb into THAT?!)
- Stage 10 - Tommy the Cruel & Huncher (both Rare Undead Elites)
- Stage 11 - Blackmane (Epic Beast/Undead Elite with Necrotic Touch passive)
As noted above, a few of these battles have additional mechanics and may not be the usual, straightforward fight. Nefarious Terry and Blackmane both have passives that transform upon their 'defeat'.
We hope you're ready to help cleanse Stratholme. Get your battle pets ready; these Shadowy Figures causing critter chaos aren't going to go down without a fight.
The hidden letter is not 100%. It is RNG whether the letter will be spawned.
One week, I had no letter anywhere (I scoured the dungeon 3 times over) and the next week, it was in the dungeon.
