There's speculation that this pet will be part of the BlizzCon 2016 goodie bag, or even a WoW Anniversary pet.
Another possibility is that Squirky is tied to the upcoming WoW Traveler book series.
This isn't the first 'Squirky' to appear in-game — A low level quest in Ironforge, Fish fer Squirky, involves feeding fish to a fisherman's murloc pet. However, the murloc featured in this quest uses the original baby murloc model.
Wherever Squirky pops up, we look forward to adopting another murloc friend!
Where do you think this pet will come from?
It is listed as a pet battle source. I am guessing it will be a wild battle pet that spawns somewhere in the oceans/islands surrounding the Broken Isles only in November. So when November is here me and a bunch of other pet collectors are gonna go look for it and if we find it, capture it!

Given the description, which mentions "young tadpoles" and travel, I suspect it's gotta be the book.
Remember the children's Warcraft book series is releasing in November, Blizzcon pets are typically themed. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a promo for the Travelers' series launch.
This model seems to fall more on the fish side of things. Bliz seems to have choosen a "back to the roots" approach for this one.
That is totally going to be this years Blizzcon pet, the Corgi pet is already for the anniversery isn't it?

While I wouldn't mind Squirky instead, I suspect that's a Blizzcon pet.
It's got lips and a tiny slit of a pupil, and though it's hard to tell it looks like it isn't all cheerfully/maniacally shiny like normal murlocs. I find it kinda' creepy actually, and I normally like all the various murlocs and baby murloc minipets... To each their own though. :-P
