For the month of December 2019, 100% of the adoption proceeds will be donated evenly between two charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and WE.org.
In addition to a cute in-game battle pet there's a separate baby alpaca plushie. Proceeds from every Dottie plushie purchase up until December 31, 2019 will also be donated to the two charities noted above.
The adoption fee for Dottie (in-game battle pet) is $10 USD, while the separate toy plushie costs $29.99 USD.

We've added Dottie to our database, however it may take a little time before collections are updated with this new pet. We'll continue to monitor things and update her pet profile in the near future. Thanks for your understanding and patience.
The plushie (which does NOT come with an in-game code) will have $10.00 of its price donated to the charities.
The cap is almost certainly being imposed by Activision bean counters who don't want too many digital alpacas to not be adding to the bottom line. Same reason they had layoffs earlier this year -- Activision is tightening the belt.

Interesting Dottie is a loveable plushie, shame they are being so vague about how much of the price is going to support this year causes "every purchase made by December 31, 2019 will also help support" :(
Overall it is a great thing but to me they are going out of their way to make themselves look bad...
