4.3 PTR: Holiday Pets Become BoU
November 04, 2011
MMO-Champion is reporting an interesting discovery on the 4.3 PTR. Many holiday pets are becoming Bind on Use instead of Bind on Pick Up! [source]
Which Companions Changed?
Not all of the seasonal companions were changed to Bind on Use. Those that were affected are holiday pets that can be purchased from holiday vendors during each in-game world event. These include but may not be limited to the following pets.
Note that the Winter Veil pets have merely had their tooltips updated, as they have always been Bind on Use.
Companions that drop from the loot bag earned after a player's first holiday boss kill of the day, such as the Frigid Frostling and Toxic Wasteling, are currently still showing up as Bind on Pick Up on Wowhead's PTR database.
We'll have to wait and see whether this change to holiday pets goes live with patch 4.3's release!

4.3 PTR: Darkmoon Faire Preview
November 06, 2011
The revamped Darkmoon Faire has come to town on the 4.3 PTR, and we have previews of the new Darkmoon pets plus a special peak at a possible friend for the Purple Puffer!
Step Right Up!
There are a total of 6 new Darkmoon Faire mini-pets:
Each of these pets can be purchased from a vendor named Lhara at the new Darkmoon Island fairgrounds for 90 Darkmoon Prize Tickets each. The pets are Bind on Pick Up and do not require any reputation to purchase.
Tickets can be earned by completing Darkmoon Faire game dailies, profession based quests, and finding rare Darkmoon Artifacts in level appropriate battlegrounds, dungeons, and raids. Old tickets earned prior to patch 4.3 cannot be used to purchase the companions.
Temporary Balloon Pets
It may take more than one week to purchase all the new Darkmoon pets, but if you'd like to have a fun and festive companion sooner rather than later, there are three temporary balloon "pets" that cost 9 silver each. The catch is that these three balloons are not true vanity pets, and the items require the Darkmoon Faire to be in town.
Frogs Found
There are many new mini-pets to buy from the faire and a whole new zone designed just for the event, but old time favorites will still be available. Flik, who sells the Tree Frog and the Wood Frog, as well as Morja (starts the quest that rewards the Jubling) can still be found wandering around the fairgrounds.
A Fishy Friend
In addition to the Darkmoon Faire companions, the Darkmoon Island has a more obscure companion to offer. Our good friend El from El's Extreme Anglin' has confirmed the existence of the Sea Pony pet.
This aquatic pet can be fished from open-water on the coasts of the Darkmoon Island, but don't worry if your skill isn't very high. According to El, the waters around the Darkmoon Island only require a fishing skill level of 75 (for no-junk catches). Get your fishing gear ready for this Giant Sewer Rat version 2.0!

Breanni Visits the Faire In 4.3!
November 08, 2011
In patch 4.3 the Darkmoon Faire turns into such a special, one week per month event that even some NPCs can't resist making a trip to the island just to check out the festivities. There's one NPC in particular that you might want to keep an eye out for.
Our own Breanni normally spends her time tending to the Magical Menagerie shop in Dalaran, but even she can't resist the allure of the faire. Every now and then, this little gnome NPC can be found wandering around the petting zoo area of the Darkmoon Faire. Let's hope she's there gathering some ideas for new pet wares to sell!
Unfortunately, Breanni doesn't have much freetime to spend at the fairgrounds, since she has duties and customers to attend to back at her pet shop. So if you should cross paths with her while visiting the Darkmoon Faire, be sure to give her a wave and say a quick hello. Feel free to take a picture of yourself with her and post it on the WarcraftPets Facebook! Breanni would enjoy a memento of the occasion.
But don't worry if you don't see her at the faire. With a little bit of gnome engineering and magic, she can instantly travel back to Dalaran, and will always be ready and waiting to sell you some mini-pet treats and goodies.

4.3 Patch Notes for Pet Collectors
In case you missed them, here's a list of notable companion pet updates, changes and additions for 4.3.
- The Purple Puffer may now be redeemed from Landro Longshot in Booty Bay.
- The Darkmoon Faire has been revamped and offers 6 new pets to collect! (Note: The DMF will not be accessible until December 4.)
- Get your fishing gear ready! Fish up the new Sea Pony pet from the coasts of the Darkmoon Island. Don't delay, though, as the island is only accessible while the Darkmoon Faire is in town.
- Although the DMF has been relocated to a whole new zone, old favorites such as the Tree Frog, Wood Frog, and Jubling are still available when the faire is in town.
- Be sure to keep an eye out for a cute little pet-loving gnome NPC visiting the fairgrounds as well!
- Many (but not all) holiday mini-pets are now Bind on Use.
- The Winter Veil companions (excluding the Clockwork Rocket Bot) have been updated. They no longer require a snowball reagent to summon, and they will not remain by your side indefinitely outside of the holiday season. These cheeky buggers even protest quite vocally when pulled away from their Winter Veil preparations!
If you find a change or update that we may have missed or something in need of a correction, please contact us.
