To earn Trunks, players must obtain an Elekk Plushie and defeat a list of Tamers with the plushie on their team. The plushie does not have to actually be swapped into the battle for the encounter to count towards the achievement.
The challenge of this achievement stems from the fact that the Elekk Plushie does not have any damaging attacks, rendering it a "carry pet". However, when max level and upgraded to rare quality, the plushie does have a fairly large health pool.

Today I got my TRUNKS - you were wrong to think that I won't play to win that achievement, a thought you all had at me back in 2010, or 2011 = i'm not sure on that date!
I combo this pet up with Terky and Ban-Fu. Terky casts Lucky Dance and then I switch to Trunks -> Moonlight -> Spam When Elleks Fly until Lucky Dance wears off. I tried to combine Trunks and Terky with an Ominous Flame with Nimbus and Foreboding Curse. Start with Nimbus - Foreboding Curse - Switch to Terky - Lucky Dance - Switch to Trunks - Moonlight - spam WEF. You start out with Trunks having a 120% hit chance on the ability and the 25% crit chance increase.
Finally got him after 3 grueling weeks of waiting for Celestial battlers. Pretty strong little guy teamed with Graves and Mechanical dragon and either most quit or got annihilated.
Mix this pet with Lucky Dance, Uncanny Luck, or Rain Dance and you have yourself one of the heaviest hitters in the game vs Flying.
I have Trunks teamed up with Xu-fu in PVP and it can be pretty awesome. Have Trunks slotted with When Elekks Fly and Moonlight and hope most of the hits connect. Switch in Xu-fu to take advantage of Moonlight buff on first slot attack. Buff to get double damage and then Feed when health is low. My third pet usually is the Unborn Val'kyr or a mechanical pet for added variety.
I apparently have trouble with basic reading skills because I completely misread his signature move. If cast during Moonlight, When Elekks Fly always attacks first but it stays a 50% hit ability. I read it as "always hits in Moonlight". Oops!
At first I was a little underwhelmed by this pet; he seemed like a lame gray recolor of a something that already comes in three flavors (one of those flavors being a different gray). But after receiving the little guy he's grown on me. When elekks fly is probably the silliest attack animation I've ever seen- it just warms my icy heart.
Finally got off my butt and got Trunks today! Two of my most useful pets for this achievement were Anubisath Idol (great all-around pet) and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling. Many of the 2-pet fights are here.
Keep in mind that if you need to absorb a big hit, you can use the Elekk Plushie because he has Magic buff. Also, it may be worth noting that the Elekk Plushie's Slot 3 Hug ability switches in another pet.
Trunks is an awesome battle pet. He just hits so hard with his signature move. I was hitting mechanicals for over 500 damage lol. A very intense grind but the payoff is well worth it. GG blizz I would like to see more pets like this.
Just got my Trunks today! Should have just called the achievement "What an Awful, Long Adventure" lol.
This Pet is like a good visit in a casino. Can 1vs3 in PvP or looses without doing anything. I love him.
This pet is the reward for completing the achievement An Awfully Big Adventure which has you defeat 44 battle pet trainers with an Elekk Plushie on your team!
