Information from Wowhead - this is going to be a very long process:

 

For  Salverun it looks like you'll need to loot a  Kob'rok's Luminescent Scale and do Sniffenseek to find something like  Hidden Niffen Treasure. They have a chance to contain a basic tablet and several designs (4 different designs are needed).

 

 

Combining them and completing the ritual will eventually result in your Salverun battle pet. You may only be able to get one of the Sniffenseek items needed for the process every week and the Scale drop might be gated behind finishing the Tablet.

I just finished all the battles, got the achievement, but no Gerald.  I sent in a ticket, it must be bugged.   Update - They did respond to the ticket and mailed Gerald to me within 24 hours.  So it worked out.

I just saw it offered on the Black Market.

 Finally got it - got a party invite to Area 52. Someone with a working Uuna was hanging out at the spot so people could do the pet battle (which was very nice).
