As explained before they hide inside the mountains sometimes. In most cases if you '/tar little and keybind the Interact with target' land and dismount and mash the keybind you will be able to get into a battle with it. Warning, sometimes the "battle area" is literally on the side of a hill or inside the mountain you just have to watch the healthbars of battling pets

Ok so I might be hallucinating. Was pet battling in stonetalon and the skunk picked up a pal to fight my pets, unfortunately i was in the middle of capturing the skunk but I swear i saw a pet called a Mule Deer. was kinda annoyed can only use one trap at a time, and i spent 2 hours grinding that same area looking for him again. Of course since i was looking for him I didn't find him.
