Like many others, I wish to thank the great community of people over at Magical Menagerie for allowing me access to the guild to get this pet. Here are some tips I learned along the way:
I went with a DK. Before you start questing in Havenshire, just after you get out of eBon hold logout and grab your main. If you have access to a 90 on another realm with access to a Renowned Guild Tabard you are set. Mail yourself one. You can mail cross-realm and cross-faction (toonname-realmname). There is a mailbox down in havenshire you can use to receive your mail. As soon as you complete the starting missions go to Outland and start those quests. It took me 10 hours over two days to gain the necessary rep. Now, Gold is the problem.... not really. Go back to your 90 and mail yourself a few more of those tabards. With a sell value of 62 gold each I only need three to buy the Hatchling.
Any specifics on this pet from those that have had it drop?
Which LFR raid does he drop in? Which boss? Anyone know a drop rate for this guy?

Finally after months of camping, hunting, trying different things.... I finally got mine last night. Was trying the "Flight Path" trick. Saw a few, was able to target them, but never could get close enough to "interact". After trying for an hour or so i thought "Well, let me check my alt DK on another server. He's parked there, maybe his flight path will have some in different positions."
I logged in none in sight, decided to ride around before heading to flight path. Came up a hill and BAM there he was, green too! I was shocked and nearly fell out of my chair!"
Have faith, patience and perseverance pays off! It's all about getting lucky i think.
So what am I doing wrong? I've solo'd this guy about 15 times so far and he NEVER drops the dang pet! Got all the other pets from this instance but this little guy NEVER drops!
Just got Grommloc! This little guy is fun! When you have him out, periodically he will fear all the other critters around him. He also hits pretty hard with his abilities. One of my new favorites!
