I had much better luck capturing a rare Silkbead Snail than I did one of these guys.  Mine is (somewhat sadly) an 18, but as the Silkbead and the Rapana have the same abilities, I definitely recommend them for the Spirit Tamers if your luck is similar to mine.

This has got to be the best frog model in the game.  I love it!

It (and the other pets) seems to be in rather short supply on the Isle I visit, however...  I hope that's just because it's new and shiny.

I seemed to find most of the spawns (unsurprisingly) around the pools in the Dire Moor.

Cinder Kitten + Magical Pet Biscuit = your very own mini Majordomo Staghelm!

It seems these little guys are currently disagreeing with CRZ on when they should spawn.  A friend alerted me to a sandstorm on my home server at about 8:30am EST - no spawns.  Same friend said a contact had talked to a GM who said the spawns were bugged due to CRZ.

Second hand information, I know, but it was backed up by the fact that I logged into a 'toon I had camped in Tanaris on one of my old servers - sandstorm was up and there were several spawns.

Managed to snag a poor-quality one of these at about 1:32am EST.  It was raining when I arrived (at about 1:31am) and continued until 1:43am.  I managed to engage 4 spawns - 3 poor and 1 common.

My guild master managed to engage two other spawns - a rare (which he sadly lost) and a poor (which he caught).

I cleared out several crabs and spiders, but not soon enough to cause another spawn before the rain ended.

If you're still looking for one of these, I'd defnitely suggest battling and clearing out the critters surrounding Booty Bay, as a couple of other comments have suggested.

I got mine (a rare on my first try too, lucky me!) as a secondary to a Tree Python that was chilling on the ridge just to the east over Booty Bay.

I thought I'd lost this rascally little critter!  After I earned the achievement today, he didn't show up in my mailbox or my journal.  After completely restarting my client (not just relogging), he showed up in my journal. Whew!

The RNG gods definitely work their magic on these.  I've caught a couple dozen of these little fellows with no rare yet - though I am going to try my luck with some different zones.

Update: the ones at Garren's Haunt in Tirisfal definitely seem to have a better chance of being rare.  First one I caught there was rare!

This has to be my new favorite pet. It's just so... creepy!

I've seen my crate spew green gas in addition to the other animations.

Re: Pebble
No, you don't have to do ALL of the dailies, Gods - just Lost in the Deeps. Whether or not it's up is completely random. Sorry to hear about your crummy luck. =(

I also received my little friend in the mail from The Postmaster, saying he was "lost in the Twisting Nether." The little guy certainly has a talent for getting lost!

This little guy is awfully cute for a rock! I like how the spikes orbit the main center - they remind me of ioun stones.

I seem to be extremely lucky as well, as I have managed to find four, yes four, of them. Note that there are elementium/rich elementium veins on Tol Barad and Tol Barad Peninsula, too - I found two of them there.

If you're a miner, don't give up! Just remember to tap every elementium vein you find!
