If you're looking for this pet on Llane, I'd suggest heading to K3 between 7:00 and 8:00am. I've seen them there during that hour several days in a row. Happy hunting!

Captured a common at the southern Icecrown spawnpoint (48.2, 87.0) on Llane at 11:15am (server) on a Tuesday when the typical weekly realm maintenance was relatively short (may have even been just a restart). This was also the day that BRF became open to LFR. Team: Rare Nexus Whelpling (22), Rare Moonshell Crab (23), Rare Hydraling (24). Valk'yr killed the Whelpling, but I never ended up using the Hydraling. Other 2 pets were cockroaches, one common, one rare. Good luck, all!

Like Lissus, I went to the Wetlands in search of a Dark Whelping - nothing after ~1.5 hours last night. Went back this morning - this guy dropped after 35-45 min.! Kept farming (20-30 min. more) and got my Dark Whelpling, as well. My spot sounds similar to the one Bnbtuttle09 used. On Llane, 4 Ebon Whelps fly along the edge of a ridge south of the road, around (64,49). I just kept killing them over & over - they respawn fast after you loot the trash.
