I'm wondering if there is always one up somewhere on the map?  I captured one and then a few minutes came across another which wasn't up before the first one got captured....

Didn't find a rare one but will just stone it eventually!

Same @Mehetabel  - in the depths of Cornwall (UK) here so just getting to an airport takes the best part of a day let alone getting to the US, maybe one day! :)

I'm back to wow after a break and missed out on the legion pre-patch stuff, just catching up with Tanaan pets before launching on Legion!  Does anyone know if this pet is still obtainable ingame or if I'm going to have to watch the auction house?

This pet is AMAZING in the legendary battles - especially Lucky Yi.  I used black claw on the first round, then hunting party on 2nd - Yi died on the 3rd round!

I have a PP kneebiter which probably helps too.

Found a rare as a secondary to a roach in the north of Redridge, surrounded by buzzards.  Taken me a while to find one so was glad to finally do so :)

If you are a draenei you can get this quest from the graveyard south of azure watch - unfortunately you can't buy simple flour from Azure Watch (you need to get it from Exodar or Odesyus Landing to the south).  Ice cold milk you can get at Azure watch though.  Make sure you get these things, buy the cooking recipe and make the bread from the vendor at the graveyard, then buy & use the marigold to see the quest giver, accept & complete the quest :)  

This pet FINALLY dropped for me today.  Other than the first week where I spent it on the beach killing the dancers for their pet for the daily kill 20 elites quest,I  have spent every daily in that cave killing the flames for their pet. I must have killed over a thousand of them (I often do way more than the needed 20, especially when I was waiting for Jadefire to spawn).  What was weird though was I was with another guy farming them and we got 2 one after the other!

wow I think I hit it lucky this morning! I went to Icecrown to check on the unborn val'kyr and whilst flying down from the tournament grounds a LOAD of the whelps were up - never seen so many (yesterday none were there!).  I forfeited about 8 before i found a rare (I already had a poor one) Not sure if I hit the '24 hr since server restart' that they were before or if they've just buffed the spawn rate but either way I am happy :D

Finally got a rare this evening, having checked this afternoon and found only one harpy up - this evening they were respawing as fast as I was battling them!  Got my rare after about 15 battles :)  Guess they upped the spawn rate in 5.3 - never seen that many, always used to be lucky to find one!

550 bones so far (started on 0 as got the bones pet last week typically!) - all from the direhorn hatchlings - no pet yet.  The guy who was in the area with me got one and an egg from the big direhorn.  Will go back later with a buddy to just do the big direhorns and see if we have any better luck - takes so long to solo them!

Killed about 10 elites or so before I got my drop - they seemed to be respawning around 5-10 min intervals, couldn't get them to spawn faster than that.  Not sure if it is time based / filth based or some combination.  I did notice that generally just before the elite spawned there was a couple of big (ie 19-20 stack) filth in the area that I killed with several little ones.  Hope this helps someone and good luck with getting your pet!

I just caught this as a rare when it appeared as a secondary to a garden moth by the Arboretum - should help for those who were struggling to find it as a primary :)

Lots of these as secondary in Deepholm - captured a rare secondary to an emerald shale hatchling and then got another rare one a few battles later as secondary...

I've had 2 rares appear now whilst battling the Eternal Striders along the river by whitepetal lake, one fast and one faster - they seem to hit pretty hard so looking forward to trying one out in my team!

I have spent the last half an hour going up and down the river that starts at whitepetal lake - travelling right down to the pool right at the end.  Loads of groups of them spawn and fast respawn time, I travelled up and down maybe 5 times checking all the groups, captured a rare dancing water skimmer and Yellow bellied bullfrog before finally getting a rare one of these :)

wow mega lucky on this one - I flew up from Wildhammer Stronghold (came from netherstorm so afk and made a cuppa on the flightpath lol).

I battled one- poor quality so killed it, then flew around in a circle, none to be seen, checked here & saw people saying about taking a while to get it.  Imagining it ending up like the Minfernal (ugh) I flew up to the top of the hand of guldan, found a paw-battled it and it was a rare! :D

So definitely take the time to go up to the top!

Been checking around the area a few times over the last couple of days, today I got bored of flying around inside and went to fly out into tanaris when bam there was the whelp - like someone said earlier it was technically in tanaris not COT as it was on the tanaris side of the moutain range.

Poor quality one but I captured it anyway as it will do for now :)
