BlizzCon 2019: Two New Murloc Pets

October 01, 2019
2019 BlizzCon in-game WoW rewards
BlizzCon 2019 attendees and Virtual Ticket holders can now collect two new murloc battle pets! [source]

Finduin and Gillvanas (pictured above) are now available to add to your collection. Simply purchase the 2019 Virtual Ticket and then check your Pet Journal in-game. (BlizzCon attendees will receive a code via email.) Go to your journal and click on the gift icons in the journal preview window to unwrap your new friends!

Although players will obtain both pets, these murlocs are faction-specific. Only Horde can summon Gillvanas, and Finduin is Alliance-only.

Both pets have some fun and interesting idle animations. Gillvanas will occasionally turn into a banshee and wail, while Finduin is equipped with his very own Power Word: Barrier animation. Each also summons their very own companion (Pets... for Your Pets?!, anyone?) — Finduin summons a wolf pup named Genji, and Gillvanas will call for an undead named Kevinos. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the two murlocs interact with each other.

We'll be adding Finduin and Gillvanas to our database in the near future. Thanks for your patience.

Patch 8.3 PTR: New Pets & Pet Dungeon

October 07, 2019
Patch 8.3 - Visions of N'zoth
Blizzard recently released a preview of Patch 8.3, Visions of N'zoth. [source]

Additionally, the 8.3 PTR is now up and running, and datamining has begun. Good news for Pet Battlers: a new Pet Dungeon and more pets to collect!

New Pets
There are currently 2 new pets coming in 8.3.

  • Void-Scarred Pup - Drop: Visions of N'zoth - Orgrimmar
  • Void-Scarred Toad - Drop: Visions of N'zoth - Orgrimmar

Check out 8.3 PTR datamined pets

The Visions of N'zoth is solo and group content where players experience an alternate Orgrimmar and Stormwind. Learn more about Visions of N'zoth here.

New Pet Dungeon
Battlers will have 2 new achievements to aim for in 8.3. Both revolve around Pet Dungeons, including a new one, Blackrock Depths! [source]

Shadow Stopper meta-achievement

The latter is a meta-achievement and requires the completion of all previously implemented Pet Battle Dungeons. It's likely the reward is only a placeholder.

We can only wonder what this meta-achievement will mean for the future of Pet Dungeons. Will we finally discover who the 'Shadowy Figures' are, and perhaps see a conclusion to the Pet Dungeon storyline? Will the meta-achievement serve as a wrap-up and Blackrock Depths will be the last dungeon adventure with our critter friends?

The Blackrock Depths Pet Dungeon is not yet available for testing on the PTR, so we'll have to wait and see. Stay tuned for a preview of what to expect inside.

We can't wait to see what else Patch 8.3 has in store for us! With this being an 'old god' patch, what kind of spooky battle pets are you hoping to collect?

Recruit-A-Friend Returns: Rikki Now Available, Plus Pet Score Changes!

October 22, 2019
New Recruit-A-Friend Pet
Blizzard has relaunched the Recruit-A-Friend program, which means a new pet is now available: Rikki (pictured below, right). [source]

Rikki
Players that recruit a friend (or themselves) can earn Rikki once their recruit adds at least one month of game time to the RAF account.

To get started, simply head to the Social window in-game and select the Recruit tab. Generate a recruitment link (link does not expire until a listed date) that you can send to friends or even yourself. Once eligible for your reward, head back to the Recruit tab in the Social window to claim Rikki.

Unlike the previous version of the RAF program, recruiters don't have to wait to collect this pet. Rikki can be redeemed as soon as the appropriate amount of game time is applied. (Note that his may not apply to additional RAF rewards, as game time seems to be added on a monthly basis.) This pet is then added directly to your Pet Journal.

With his safari hat, vest, and trusty banana, Rikki looks ready to join you on your adventures — will you be recruiting him to your team?

Pet Score Changes
You may have noticed a shift in realm and site rankings. Don't worry, you're not seeing things!

We've recently adjusted how the Pet Score is calculated. Each level 25 pet in your collection is now worth more, and non-combat pets have been given a small score boost.

Note that these changes are not retroactive, so you'll need to re-import your collection to see an updated Pet Score.
