New Pet Filter: WoW Classic

September 04, 2019
World of Warcraft Classic
We're happy to announce that we've added a new pet filter to help adventurers find and collect all of the fun and cute Classic vanity pets!

Simply head to our Filter Pets By... page and select the 'World of Warcraft Classic' filter, Include, and then Apply Filters. Browse through 46 49 collectible companion pets found in Classic. (We've added the original CE companions to the list.)

Check out the Classic pets filter

Note that the 'Classic' filter is separate from the 'Vanilla' filter, as shown in different tooltips. Sources for pets have changed over the years — the 'Vanilla' filter will reflect current Retail (BFA) pet sources. Meanwhile, the 'Classic' filter will have tooltips with information relevant to Classic WoW.

The Classic filter does not include Promotional pets, as many of these companions are no longer available. However, you can still view this list by searching using the 'Vanilla' and 'Promotional' filters.

Additionally, we've updated each Classic companion pet's profile page to include a new section listing the pet's 'Classic Source' plus original item tooltip. It can be found toward the bottom of each pet profile, just above the Notes.

For a quick overview of collectible Classic pets, you can also check out our Classic Vanity Pets Guide.

We hope everyone is enjoying WoW Classic and the adorable companions it has to offer. What better way to relive old memories and create some new ones than with a cute critter by your side!

Recruit-A-Friend Returning Soon: New Pet Reward

September 10, 2019
Recruit-A-Friend
Blizzard recently announced that a revamped Recruit-A-Friend program will be returning. It's unclear when as an official date was not announced, but we'll likely see it appear in the near future. [source]

What's New?
Rikki
The updated Recruit-A-Friend program will feature some new rewards. One of these is a fun battle pet, Rikki (pictured right).

Not much is known yet about this little monkey, however Wowhead has datamined its Pet Journal description:

"Rikki has a talent for sneaking in and out of all manner of small spaces, if bribed properly with figs."

To earn this battle pet, players will need to recruit a new friend, or recruit an account that has not had game time added to it in the past 2 years. After this recruit adds 1 month of game time or more to their account, Rikki should be claimable.

Other rewards include a new title, weapon enchant, tabard, cosmetic gear, and two 2-seater mounts. Learn more about these rewards in Blizzard's preview of the updated Recruit-A-Friend program.

What About Previous Rewards?
Unfortunately, it's unknown if the previous Recruit-A-Friend battle pets will be made available to collectors ever again.

4 Recruit-A-Friend pets

No information was provided regarding these pets, so at this time we can only speculate that they have been retired either temporarily or permanently. We certainly hope that it's the former and we'll see them again in the future.

Patch 8.2.5 Live This Week: 6 New Pets

September 24, 2019
Patch 8.2.5 - 6 new pets!
New pets were added with the latest patch, plus three fun cosmetic items for your bee battle pets! [source]

New Pets
Patch 8.2.5 included 6 new pets, however a few won't be collectible right away.

Flutter By Butterflies
3 new butterfly companions can be found in Stormsong Valley.

3 new butterfly pets

All three are drops from rares related to a new reputation, Honeyback Hive. Although the reptuation is Alliance-only, both factions can participate in the rare events that drop the battle pets.

Head to Tidebreak Summit in Stormsong Valley and look for a gold star on the minimap. The Honeyback Harvester event can spawn in multiple locations around the Summit, while the rare elite, Honey Smasher, appears along the northern coast.

A Nefarious Anniversary
Lil' Nefarian
This year marks 15 years of questing, adventuring, and of course, pet collecting in WoW!

Players that log in starting November 15th will receive a gift package from the in-game mail containing Lil' Nefarian (pictured right).

With this new addition, plus Lil' Deathwing, Onyxian Whelpling and Spawn of Onyxia, our very own Lil' Black Dragonflight is growing!

Recruit-A-Friend Returns
Rikki
The Recruit-A-Friend program will be relaunched some time in Patch 8.2.5, but an official date hasn't been announced yet.

With the revamped RAF comes a new pet, Rikki (pictured left). Recruited friends (or yourself) that add at least one month of game time to their account will unlock this battle pet for the recruiter.

Learn more about the updated RAF program

Rikki is currently not listed in the Pet Journal at the time of this writing, however we expect this battle pet to show up once RAF has been updated on live servers. We'll add this pet to our database as soon as the data is available to us.

A Fibbing Feline?
Jenafur
Last but not least is Jenafur (pictured right), a cat battle pet with unknown origins. It's unclear how players will collect this pet; the Pet Journal only lists it as a drop from an NPC of the same name.

Jenafur has some interesting flavor text:
"This cat is known for her lies, ignore her sweet meows."

Is this another secret we need to uncover? We'll be sure to update once we learn more about this companion, so stay tuned!

New Cosmetic Items
Seabreeze Bumblebee wearing a dapper hat
3 new on-use items are now available for your bee companions.

These items drop from Jelly Deposits that spawn in Stormsong Valley. Only Alliance players that have unlocked the Honeyback Hive reputation can loot these objects. Players will need to have acquired Bumbles or Seabreeze Bumblebee to get started on this buzzing adventure.
