Use a critter stone on this little guy immediately! He is a walking stun gun. People will hate you because you are stealing their turns.

This is a must have cricket. It can heal for half it's life, block attacks and do major damage. Get it!

Get the p/p breed. Probably one of the biggest hitters. Pair him up with another pet that has mana surge (arcane eye) you are sure to burn through a few pets quickly.

Get the h/p breed and make it rare. These guys are cheap but one of the most effective pets. This is one of my favorite undeads

Most people focus on rarity but that is not usually as important as the breed. Get the speed breed. Camp out a toon and log in late at night. One of the best pets I have... I have a lot.

If you are just starting to level battle pets, level this guy first. He can easily level all your other pets by himself. Crabs in general are a great idea when first starting out.
