I've tried to get this for several years now and this time I got it on first try. I don't know if they upped the drop rate or if I just got lucky. Either way I'm happy.

here is my suggestion: 

 

clear the dungeon first and stick aroud. Drink the tea (you really only need 2 if you wait til the end). use shift + V this will make friendly name plates appear. Walk around and click them. Super easy.

This is one of the MOST frustrating pet to capture. I got my first one before it was capturable, and that was uncommon quality. However when I went to find one after the update, it took awhile. Finally I find one and.... it died... V.V;;

 

2 hours of farming later (not a typo) I finally got one as a second. In this timeframe I found a rare quality glowfly, rare rat, rare seagull, and a rare roach. I settled for an uncommon quality crow and I don't ever want to farm them again.

11:47pm server I found one at 45.85 , 67.07 and then did the happy dance since it was a rare! :D Pretty awesome battle movements with the spinning lazer thing... you'll have to see it to understand what I'm talking about heh

drops off first boss, got it on my first attempt, so happy! :D hes adorable

found one at 35.48 , 56.18 next to the huge elite yeti. These little dude hits hard so be prepared. 

never saw one inside the crater, only surrounding the outside. finally got my own at 30.35 , 31.65 just outside walls by the water, had a frog as second. Was common quality but I was happy just to get one :D

There is a large cluster of about 6-10 by Zen Master Aki, however you can't tell by looking at them because their pet icon doesn't show up when they're in the water. This might be a glitch but be aware of it. It'll show up on your map, but not infront of you. :)

I didn't find any to the east so I flew back around the circle and spotted one at 59.63 , 73.19. Only a poor quality but It was the only one around at 2:43am server time.

These spawn ALL around on the island. took 11 kills to get a rare.  In those 11 I found 1 uncommon, 1 rare, 2 common, and 7 poor.

1:58am server time at 55.42 , 55.55 found one, poor quality. Can't find anymore. :(

Found one at 59.05 , 52.80 , took about 30 minutes for one to spawn at exactly 1:34am server time. Uncommon rarity.

found 3 of them all in the main circle of CoT. Be careful when you go to fight them, i killed two on accident :( pretty good heals though, I might have to try to find a rare.

Only one spawned and it spawned at 28.16 , 25.74 in dry hills at 1:05am server time. She was only common but after camping for 3 hours, I was happy to have any spawn at all. Shes very pretty, happy to finally have a harpy!

Totally made my night when this guy dropped. I can confirm it's off first boss in Blackwing Lair Razgore the Untamed. We two manned him, no big deal with a 90 mage / 86 warrior.
