Day of the Dead is Here! Macabre Marionette Now Available

November 01, 2013
Macabre Marionette
For many years pet collectors have longed for the Macabre Marionette to be a permanent vanity pet. We're in luck this year, because Blizzard has finally turned the marionette into a true companion that can also battle!

How to Collect It
The Day of the Dead world event is here and for the next few days you can complete the quest The Grateful Dead which awards the Macabre Marionette.

The quest can be picked up from your race's home city (example: Darnassus for Night Elves or Undercity for Undead). Dalaran and Shattrath are neutral territories, therefore the NPC will offer the quest to any race and faction.

To start and complete the quest, you will need to purchase a Bouquet of Orange Marigolds as well as Bread of the Dead from Chapman. The flowers will enable you to see the quest giver, while the bread recipe can be purchased from the same NPC that sells the bouquet.

The Grateful Dead quest can be completed on multiple characters, meaning you can obtain multiple pets. The Macabre Marionette is also cageable, which can come in handy should you know anyone who will miss out on the event.

Available For a Limited Time
The Day of the Dead is a very short-lived in-game event (November 1st through November 3rd), so collectors only have a small window each year to complete the quest and collect this pet.

However, since this pet is cageable, those that miss out on the event will still have the opportunity to obtain it via the Auction House and other trade transactions. There will be plenty of marionettes to go around!

Blizzcon 2013 Pet: Murkalot is Here!

November 06, 2013
UPDATE: We're aware that EU users are not seeing this pet being added to their collections via armory import. The EU armory has not been updated with Murkalot yet, however we expect Blizzard to correct this issue in the near future. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Murkalot
Blizzard has started mailing Murkalot to Blizzcon 2013 Virtual Ticket holders a little early this year!

Players who purchased the Virtual Ticket need only to log (or re-log) onto their character and check their mail.

Once retrieved in-game, Murkalot is BoP and not cageable. Only Blizzcon attendees who receive the pet card will be able to sell and trade this pet.

Post-BlizzCon 2013 Wrap Up and Pets in WoD

November 11, 2013
BlizzCon 2013 has come to an end, but we hope everyone had an amazing time!

Pets In Warlords of Draenor
Pets In Warlords of Draenor
The next WoW expansion was announced, and a new feature being added is garrisons. Players will be able to customize their own plot of land with upgrade-able buildings. One of these structures happens to be Pet Stables!

A BlizzCon attendee, @gloriaboboria, managed to speak briefly with developer Cory Stockton (aka: Mumper) and Tweeted more details on what the Pet Stables might entail.

Pet Breeding...?
Keep in mind that although Pet Stables within garrisons has been confirmed, the following features have not been officially announced yet, and things may change over the course of the development process.

  • Players will be able to breed pets within their garrisons. Epic pets may be the result of breeding. [source]
  • Better breeds through breeding, but the level cap will not be raised. [source]
  • The idea of "gem slots" to increase stats of pets has been replaced with the idea of breeding. [source]

Adding even more buzz to this, Mumper clarified their goal for pet breeding a little further in a Tweet.

"...current plan is you can merge two pets of the same family and pick the breed. Doing this gives chance at epic."

UPDATE: Cory Stockton Tweeted a few more details on pet breeding:

"Offspring's level will likely be an average of parent pet levels. Using battlestones in the breeding process might increase chances for an epic pet." [source]

"Breeding higher quality pets will give you a better chance for epic pets." [source]

"Players will be able to pick the breed of the offspring based on its parents' available breeds." [source]

The possibility of pet breeding is certainly intriguing, but we'll have to wait for more information and details. Warlords of Draenor is still a work in progress, so anything could happen!

WarcraftPets Meet-and-Greet
BlizzCon Cookies
We'd like to thank everyone that attended the BlizzCon 2013 WarcraftPets meet-ups. Over the course of both Friday and Saturday, more than 100 people stopped by to say hello and sign the roster.

An extra thank you goes to user Marzena for providing "Crazy Cat Lady" cookies (pictured) at the gathering!

Again, thank you to the attendees for making this year's Meet-and-Greet awesome, and of course to ALL of our users for your continued support.

Don't forget that we'll be raffling off a Rocket Chicken (code courtesy of WoWTCGLoot.com) for those that attended and signed the Meet-and-Greet roster with a valid WarcraftPets username. The winner will be announced on Twitter and Facebook, so keep an eye out!

5.4.2 PTR: Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition Pet

November 13, 2013
MMO-Champion datamined the upcoming PTR patch and discovered the Collector's Edition pet for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, a Treasure Goblin. [source]

Treasure Goblin
The Treasure Goblin (pictured above, courtesy of MMO-Champion) is Bind on Account and not cageable. Adding it to your collection will reward the achievement Collector's Edition: Treasure Goblin.

It looks like this pet will be quite interesting to battle with. Some notable abilities include Portal which is akin to Feign Death, while Magic Sword is a unique ability that always crits. What on earth is a gold-hungry goblin doing with a sword? Protecting his treasure of course!

The release date for Reaper of Souls is still currently unknown, but this pet will surely be worth the wait.
